Jezero's shoreline rocks rewrite early Mars: three separate water events, and a surprise under the carbonates
Perseverance's SuperCam instrument found that Jezero Crater's carbonate-rich Margin Unit is actually altered igneous olivine, recording at least three distinct water events, including a later hydrothermal episode. The peer-reviewed finding rewrites the orbital picture of one of Mars' most studied ancient lake sites.
