Curiosity's uncorrected Martian dawn photo shows a 10-mile rock layer scientists still can't explain
NASA released a Curiosity panorama on Oct. 6, 2026, processed without the usual white balancing, showing a 10-mile wind-carved layer on Mount Sharp whose origin scientists still cannot explain. The rover hopes to reach it in 2027.
